SYNOPSIS: The astronaut Captain Charles “Chuck” Baker lands on Planet 51.Believing to be the first step on its surface, you will discover to their surprisethat it is inhabited by a strange green people who live in a world that resemblesthe United States of the innocent 50’s, steeped in paranoia of an impendingalien invasion. With the help of young Lem and his friends, Chuck will try toreturn to his ship before being captured.

Ilion Animation Studios, based in Madrid (Spain), gave me the opportunity to belong to its extensive team (more than three hundred) and work together to fifteen wonderful people in the FX Department for the movie Planet 51. Thus adding to what is now the most expensive film of the Spanish and Europeancinema.

Working as Assistant Effects Animator and for half a year, I was doing variousjobs, from the rendering of layers of effects, some with more than one hundredand five fluid layers each, to the creation of various effects of the film, such as abreaking glass, with just over one hundred and fifty pieces collide.

The work was quite hard, stressful, for the short time that we had for deliveries,but extremely satisfying. I can proudly say that we have a great team, very competent and above all very human, in which the most important was thesuccess of the film and try to always do your best. I’ve been very fortunate to belong to this great work and I get a great experience. Would love to see us in the upcoming movie and I wish you all a great future.

SINOPSIS: El astronauta capitán Charles “Chuck” Baker aterriza en Planeta 51. Creyendo ser el primero en pisar su superficie, descubrirá para su sorpresa que ya está habitado por unas curiosas personas verdes que viven en un mundo que recuerda a los Estados Unidos de los inocentes años 50, sumidos en la paranoia de una inminente invasión alienígena. Con la ayuda del joven Lem y sus amigos, Chuck intentará regresar a su nave antes de ser capturado.

Ilion Animation Studios, afincado en Madrid (España), me dió la oportunidad de pertenecer a su extenso equipo de trabajo (más de trescientas) y trabajar junto a quince maravillosas personas en el FX Department para la película de Planet 51. Incorporándome así a lo que es ahora la película más cara del cine Español y Europeo.

Trabajando como Effects Assistant Animator y durante medio año, estuve realizando diversos trabajos, desde el renderizado de capas de los efectos, algunos con mas de cien fluidos y cinco capas por cada uno, hasta la creación de varios efectos de la película, tal como una rotura de un cristal, con algo más de ciento cincuenta piezas en colisión.

El trabajo resultó bastante duro, algo estresante, por el poco tiempo del que contábamos para las entregas, pero extremadamente satisfactorio. He de decir con orgullo que hemos sido un gran equipo de trabajo, muy competente y sobre todo muy humano, en el que lo más importante era el buen resultado de la película e intentar hacerlo siempre lo mejor posible. He sido muy afortunado de pertenecer a esta gran obra y me llevo una gran experiencia. Me encantaría volver a vernos en la próxima película y os deseo a todos un gran futuro.
